Most people are familiar with Peter's art through one of his car books–particularly through The VW Idiot Book. In fact, he illustrated many books on many subjects. Throughout most of these books are examples not only of marvelous drawing but also of Peter's whimsical and unique sense of humor.
Peter was also a painter and sculptor, working in a variety of media. He was the master of perspective and created many "corner paintings" stretching the canvas in a concave shape over a corner frame. Often he carved and painted a frame that was part of the piece. He explored his character "Grapefruit Head" in a series of paintings and depicted Billy the Kid in paintings, sculptures and a series of postcards.
We start the Gallery Page with just one piece for now, a humorous broadsheet that Peter drew just for fun–Clams on the Lam. We plan to add other pieces–both illustrations and fine art–from time to time so you will really have a "tour" through Peter's art.
